Cameroon – Strike:The Cameroon Doctors’ Union announces unlimited strike as of July 17, 2017

This strike will be preceded by a work stoppage scheduled for June 12-14, 2017.
The Cameroon Doctors’ Union (Symec) is again calling on its members to stop work. In the press release signed on June 8, 2017 in Yaoundé, its president Dr Pierre Yves Bassong, announces a two-step walkout.
First a work stoppage from 12 to 14 June over the entire national territory. Then, as of July 17, 2017, an “unlimited strike“. During periods of disengagement, new outpatient consultations will be canceled, and elective surgical procedures (with the exception of caesarean sections) suspended. Radiological procedures and laboratory tests will also be suspended, with the exception of those presenting the emergencies mentioned above. The Symec, which criticizes the attitude of the Minister of Public Health, promises to “always keep the doors open to any constructive dialogue“.
