Archbishop Kleda to Gov’t-“Dialogue with Anglophone secessionists”

The President of the National Episcopal Conference of Cameroon (NECC) and Archbishop of
Douala, Mgr. Samuel Kleda has advised Government to dialogue with Anglophone secessionists.
The Prelate’s naked truth on the Anglophone Crisis has sparked jubilation among denizens of the Southwest Region. In a heart-wrecking and tear-provoking article published in The Post Newspaper of Friday, December 8, 2017, the Prelate asserted that for any lasting solution to be sought in the Anglophone Crisis, all Anglophone activists calling for the restoration of the Southern Cameroons’ Statehood must be part of the national dialogue.
“I have observed that the Anglophone population is quite receptive to the messages of the secessionists. This shows that to them it is the secessionists that will provide real solutions to their socioeconomic problems”.
Even though President Biya has repeatedly declared that the Government will not dialogue with secessionists, the Douala Archbishop maintained that to exclude Anglophone activists from any national dialogue to proffer solutions to the Anglophone Crisis will be an unwise decision.
He urged Government to dialogue with the Anglophone ‘secessionists’ for the interest of the country.
“All living forces should be involved in the national dialogue, because the Anglophone Crisis is something that concerns all Cameroonians.”

 

To him, the recent killing of civilians and security officers in the two Regions is evidence that the crisis will not end soon. He attributed the continuous degeneration of the crisis to the radicalization of the positions of the Anglophone activists and the Biya Government.
He warned that Anglophone activists are organizing themselves into groups of guerrilla fighters to react to the killing of civilians in the North West and South West Regions
