Cameroon – Paul Biya: President offers an envelope of several million FCFA to the fishermen who helped to find the body of Bishop Bala.
Monsignor Jean Marie Benoit Bala,
bishop of Bafia, missing on the night of 30 May 2017 was found dead in
the Sanaga River on Friday 02 June. After three days of excavation, the
body of the prelate had been found in the water in Tsang, a village in
the Lékié division, Central Region by Ali, a fisherman of Malian nationality.
To thank the Malian, the other fishermen
who were in his company and the other villagers who had embarked on the
research, the Head of State decided to offer them an envelope of
several million FCFA. The exact amount was not disclosed.
The envelope of the President of the
Republic was handed over to the beneficiaries yesterday Wednesday July
19, 2017 by the governor of the Naseri Center Region Paul Bea.
“I thank the whole government, we are all happy” reacted to the microphone of the Crtv-Radio, the Malian fisherman.
However, the appeasement is not yet
back. The authorities of the Catholic Church who believe that Bishop
Bala was assassinated reject the thesis of death by drowning advanced by
the Attorney General at the Court of Appeal of Yaounde at the halfway
point of an unresolved judicial inquiry. The church decided to file a
complaint against X for murder.
The funeral of Bishop Bala is scheduled from 02 to 03 August 2017 in Bafia.
