“Free all those arrested and sentence me to dead”, Mancho Bibixy tells judge
Bibixy, the activist who in November marched alone through Bamenda in Anglophone Cameroon, carrying a coffin and shouting that he was prepared to die for his cause, pleaded with the judges after the hearing, to free the others in exchange for his life. He said this on October 26th, during which his case was adjourned to November 30th due to insufficient witnesses.
It should be recalled that a Presidential decision in August 2017, saw the release of some Anglophone activists including top leaders of the Anglophone strike action like Agbor Balla and Fontem Neba. Many have since wondered why the decision did not include Mancho. Going by human rights pundits, the worrying pattern of continues arbitrary arrests in English speaking Cameroon, detention and harassment of civil society activists, is entirely at odds with the international human rights law and standards that Cameroon has committed to uphold.
