Cameroon – Cholera: The Far North Prepares for a fightback
The Mogodé locality in the Mayo-Tsanaga
division, has just served as the framework for the launch of the
vaccination campaign against cholera.
According to Dr. Grace Alake,
deputy director of vaccination in the Family Health Directorate of the
Ministry of Health, who came to the field for this event, it was because
during the 2010 cholera epidemic, the literality rate, that is to say
people who died as a result of cholera there was very high that the city
of Mogodé was chosen for the launch of this campaign, reports Cameroon Tribune in kiosk this Friday.
This vaccination campaign against
cholera spread from May 25 to 31, 2017, it is learned. It is also
remembered that it was by Mogodé that the first cases of cholera were
reported during the epidemic.
The administrative authorities and
health officials in this region took the opportunity of this campaign to
raise awareness about the improvement of their living environments.
In addition to the campaign to bring
doses of cholera vaccine to thousands of residents, the focus has been
on raising awareness about the practice of body hygiene, the report
said.
A motorized caravan has traveled Mogodé
and has done remarkable work in this field. Now that the first rains are
falling in the Far North region, it seems necessary that the
populations put into practice the advice given to them in the framework
of the crusade against cholera.
n hundreds of deaths
in the Far North.
